"The label Garland Coo was founded by designer Jasmin Isabel Eckerle and artist Marcel Singer in 2009 in the deep south of Germany. As if probing the dialectic of Nature versus Nurture, the creative duo channels their cultural and physical environment through their fashion. Garland Coo incorporate Black Forest elements in both the couture collection and in the accessories seen here: scarves, tight pants and tops are printed on by hand with acorns gathered in the forest, and heritage chequered patterns and pompons adorn the pieces. Precisely here is where Garland Coo shines – the masterful creations evade falling into the old trap of tacky revamped heritage attire. Instead, these traditionally South German elements are given a dark edge and an avantgarde twist.
